Orchestra-Cobla Selvatana, 1913 |
BRIEF HISTORY
In autumn 1913, three musicians from Girona's province –tible Pere Mercader, from La Escala; fiscorn Pere Arpa, from Cornellŕ de Terri; and tenor Ramon Serrat, from Sant Joan de les Abadesses; who took over the management since the first moment–, undertook very enthusiastically a project which should have a long and brilliant future: the foundation of a cobla-orchestra. They baptized it as SELVATANA making honor to its birthplace: Cassŕ de la Selva.
In those 90 years of excellent professional trajectory have passed through the orchestra Selvatana musicians of great prestige, all of them point of reference of a group that is similar to good wine: by getting older it has become better. Famous instrumentalists and great directors have made possible that SELVATANA, at the moment managed by Jesús Santaliestra, has been recognized amongst Girona's most prestigious coblas-orchestra.
